These are pictures from our Easter trip to Myrtle Beach. Kevin and Farrish joined us. Farrish has a "balloon parrot" made at Joe's Crab Shack at Broadway at the Beach. We stayed at the Apache Campground in the RV. Had a great time, however, it was too windy and cold for swim suits just yet!!

Ed-Great Grandfather & Janene-Grandmother

Janene called this morning to report that her son, Hugh's baby is one the way! They were on the way to the hospital in Washington. We called tonight and the little girl has not yet decided to make her appearance, so we still are waiting. Perhaps by tomorrow, Janene will be a grandmother and Ed will have another great granddaughter!

My Niece, Carolyn James, on Vacation in Hawaii

Here are the pictures from my trip to Hawaii. I met Frank from Vancouver and had dinner with him several nights. Went on to Hilo and saw 4 volcanoes. The waterfalls were part of the tour and it is Ranibow Falls. Saw Kilauea Iki Crater. Had a wonderful time and wish I never came back to Michigan. When I got home, we had several weeks of snow. Say Hi to everyone. Carolyn

Suzanne Whitehurst, Arlington, VA, Passes

Suzanne Whitehurst, a distant cousin, originally from Bethel passed away yesterday from cancer. She has lived in Arlington, Virginia, since she graduated from college many years ago. She was 51 years old. Her father is William (Billy) Cadet Whitehurst from Bethel, one brother - Ken Whitehurst, and a sister - Mary Charles. You probably remember Billy as the owner of Whitehurst Grocery and Whitehurst Dry Goods on Railroad Street in Bethel. Ken, her brother, coached at North Pitt High School for several years. Visitation will be at Wilkerson tonight from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral is Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel United Methodist Church. She recently moved back home to Bethel and has been living with her dad.

Janene (Ed's Daughter) Soon to be a Grandmother!

Andrea went to the doctor and she is 1 cm and the baby needs to move down a little more....baby coming soon! FYI-This is Janene's son, Hugh, who is expecting a little girl. Hugh works at EJE Recycling.

Family News from My Cousin, Rebecca's Folks!

Cathy - I'VE BEEN SICK! (But I've heard that red wine kills a multitude of germs. Feel free to send some).
Andy - SOLD HIS BLUE TRUCK! Now do you understand that this truck is older than his children? It was his pride and joy, his right arm, his best friend, his "ole' blue". But, hey, we've got a kid in college and don't need 5 vehicles, so...
Other than that, he won the Pinehurst Classic in his age group this weekend, beating some McGraff guy 7-5, 6-4 or 6-2 or something like that. The big deal was that McGraff beat Robert Stevens (#1) to get to Andy. We're proud.
Sarah - LOVES CAROLINA! Go heels! Making "A"s and keeping up with sorority life. Ahh, those were the days.
Mary Catherine - GOT INTO GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL! For mathematics. She has decided if she will do that or work crew for Young Life this summer. She has an opportunity to work on a horse ranch in Oregon. Ahh, the decisions of youth!
Aaron - A FRESHMAN PLAYING VARSITY TENNIS! Oh yeah! He beat the #6 guy on the team yesterday 6-1. Who's ya daddy? Andy Wilkison, that's who! We are so proud. And he is making "A"s in high school. Who would have thought?
Our love to all! Happy Easter! Cathy

Scott Takes Kelli & Friend Geocaching

Kelli likes to go geocaching with Scott, so he recently took Kelli and her friend, McKenzie, to look for a few caches. Geocaching is basically a treasure hunt, hugely popular the world over, in which you enter grid coordinates into a GPS unit to locate a "treasure", which is usually some type of weatherproof box hidden by another geocacher. The box might contain little goodies like toy soldiers or arrowheads, or it might only contain a log that you're supposed to sign and date. It's really just a little more complicated than that, but that's it in a nutshell. You can obtain these grid coordinates from the Geocaching.com web site after registering.

Geocaches are ALL OVER - EVERYWHERE.

Christopher's Climbing Merit Badge

Christopher went with his Boy Scout troop to winter camp in January and received his climbing merit badge. The requirements for the merit badge included learning the skills and safety procedures for three different surface climbs, belaying (securing a person by attaching to one end of a rope), and repelling on their 40-foot tower. This was his first experience with climbing and repelling, except for a man-made rock wall at a local town festival, so I was really impressed.

This Week's Big Winner

Well, the "just for fun" NASCAR pool in Pactolus has produced some big winners!
This week, Ed Whitehurst, Sr. won
Two weeks ago, Connie McGrath won
Three weeks ago, Patricia (Bobby Whitehurst's significant other) won
So, the odds are pretty good. If you'd like to pick a number, see Ken at Poorman's Restaurant.
